Little Town of Bethlehem(s)

A medley of two versions of this popular Christmas song

Arranged for four intermediate lever or pedal harps (34 strings)

This one will make you feel like the Christmas season is truly here!

My students and fellow ensemblers describe this as the typical and perfect harpy arrangement for a carol ensemble, with everything you want to hear and play. From harmonics to ripply arpeggios and lush chords, it’s become a definite favourite for the harpers performing this, and audience alike.

Each part shares the tune, the harmony and the accompaniment, as well as getting a chance to play cheeky little filler passages  which are so much fun and add to the overall character of a piece not usually known for being ‘lots of fun’.

Featuring the two different versions of ‘Oh Little Town of Bethlehem’ – one well known in the UK, Ireland and Canada and set to the tune ‘Forest Green’ (collected by Ralph Vaughn Williams)  and the other (with the G# accidental) is  well known in USA and set to the tune of “St Louis”. The text was written by Phillip Brooks in 1868, and it was his collaborator, Lewis Redner who wrote ‘St Louis’

The second tune has a sneaky G# and a C# which each appear several times, but nothing too nasty.

Includes score (10 pages), four parts (for lever or pedal harp) of 3 pages each, and one tune only part.
